Trade-In Information

Trade-in and Certified  FAQ’s

Why trade-in?

Trading in your current vehicle towards another can partially offset the cost of the new vehicle. The trade-in's net value goes towards the purchase or lease of a new car. Condition of a trade-in can vary from very clean to rough.

If you own the vehicle, trading-in means that you're selling the car to the dealer for some determined price. As a result, the price of the new car goes down if you have equity and would increase if you owe than what your vehicle is worth.

Why is it beneficial to trade-in?

When you trade-in your vehicle in you don't have to worry about selling the vehicle yourself or any of the associated costs (advertising, showing the car, etc). You may be offered a price you could not get yourself as an incentive to purchase a new or used vehicle. If your vehicle has repair issues, trading in your vehicle eliminates the problem of having the person complaining to you after you sell it.

What happens to a trade-in?

Depending on the vehicle some are resold as used cars. Many are sent to auction and purchased by other dealers for resale. Dealers know that auction prices often will not match the amount given to you but they absorb the losses in order to sell another new or used vehicle.

How much can I expect to get?

Check used car values in guides issued by organizations such as Kelly Blue Book.  Often both trade-in and private sale values are listed. Factors such as mileage, overall condition, damage and known mechanical problems heavily influence the trade-in value.

How to Buy a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle

Once you have chosen the make of vehicle you want to buy, you can begin shopping. Our dealership lists our inventory and the certified used vehicles that we have for sale. For more information, call us at 313-846-5000.

Ask to see our inspection report completed by our factory-trained technician for that specific vehicle. Make sure the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the inspection report matches the vehicle you want to buy.
Since the vehicle is certified, the cost of this program is included in the purchase price of the vehicle. In other words, there will not be a separate charge for your powertrain 6 year / 100,000 mile extended warranty or for certification.  When you come in for service our service advisors can easily confirm that you are covered by the certified powertrain warranty.  Any time up to 90,000 miles you may buy additional component coverage.
